M 78 Orion Reflection Nebula

M 78 is a reflection nebula in the constellation Orion, located north of Orion’s Belt. Unlike the emission nebula M 42, M 78 shines by reflecting the light of nearby hot, young stars. It is a well-known target for astrophotography due to its blue hues caused by starlight scattering off interstellar dust.
