The week before Easter, 2021, we visited the Blomquists in Shorewood, Minnesota. Fortunately the COVID-19 risk is now lower because we have been vaccinated and they have had the disease. Of course, we still took reasonable precautions.
There were many other travelers out and about. The planes were more than half full (Delta is still keeping middle seats empty), and when we ate indoors it was in restaurants under reduced capacity restrictions.
It was COLD except for one day – too cold for much walking and we didn’t run at all. The air was fresh, the sky was a lovely shade of blue, and a few bulbs were blooming.
It was wonderful to see the family, including the pets, and we enjoyed some special outings to two museums and several restaurants, including Kowalski’s in Excelsior (a favorite lunch spot) and Lola’s in Waconia (our favorite place for Walleye). The featured image above was taken in Miyabi’s in Excelsior.
The kids were off school, but both Gillian and Mike had to work part of the time. In spite of that, they showed us a great time, and Gillian cooked us a special Palm Sunday meal that included ham and scalloped potatoes. The boys both have learners permits and are practicing driving, and Helena is teaching herself Japanese and writing poetry. The dogs are as lively as ever, but Skylar, who was every inch the puppy the last time we saw her, has now matured a lot.
We are hoping/expecting to see the Blomquists again in June – this time in Hawaii – and we’re looking forward to it!
