Comet C/2025 R2 (Swan)
C/2025 R2 (Swan) is a long-period comet discovered by the SWAN instrument aboard the SOHO spacecraft in late 2025. The comet became visible to ground-based observers shortly after its discovery, developing a distinct coma and faint tail as it approached perihelion.
The comet’s orbit takes it far beyond the outer planets, and it is not expected to return for many thousands of years. During its 2025 apparition, it provided a brief but striking display for comet watchers in both hemispheres.
