Anna and several generations of her ancestors
Both the Schreiter and Riedel (Anna's maternal grandfather was Louis Hermann Riedel) families migrated in 1873 from Saxony, Germany, to Forestville, Michigan, as part of a group known as Colonia Saxonia (Saxon Colony). Anna van Raaphorst’s grandmother, Anna Marie, was just a baby when she immigrated.

The Schreiters migrated to the "Thumb" of Michigan.
