
Dick’s key professional roles have been software engineer, web developer, writer, and researcher. He has extensive experience in software development, technical writing, and the history of computing.
Dick has a BA and MA in mathematics from UCLA. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Dick’s post-graduate education includes web development and data science with R and Python. He has written custom code to do XML data transformations, data wrangling, and web publishing.
He is also a history buff and has taken many classes on modern and ancient history.
For a number of years Dick volunteered as a researcher and cataloger at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, and at a number of archaeological and paleontological sites in California and the U.S. Mountain States. Dick has also done three hitches working as a volunteer on the Battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor.
In his spare time, Dick likes to work on compiling his family history and studying Spanish, German, mathematics, and computer languages. He is also an avid walker and jogger.
