In the past I found that you could use an iPhone to take most pictures, but you couldn’t do telephoto pictures of things like birds and wildlife.

I recently replaced  my old iPhone 15 Pro with a new iPhone 17  Pro. The new iPhone now has support for 8X telephoto images as a standard part of the camera app. That is the equivalent of a 200mm conventional camera lens. In addition,  you can digitally zoom to the equivalent of a 600mm lens and still have a useable image. The picture above was taken like this. Below you can see how far away the tree is where the Dove was sitting. That is the same scene without telephoto. The branches on the top of the tree are where the birds like to sit in the morning.

We are thinking that now the iPhone may be all the camera we need, since the telephoto works so well.
