The Kalerts: I once asked my mother about her mother's mother Anna, and she said her name was "Anna Alein", but her real name was "Anna Kalert". The Kalerts were from Geinsheim, Bayern, Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1857, settling in St. Louis. Anna somehow traveled to the Buffalo area where she married Henry Rebmann in 1890. The rest of the Kalert family later moved to Freeburg, St. Clair county, Illinois where they took up farming. There are still many Kalerts there today.
