About the Woodruffs
The Woodruffs are Rick Livengood’s mother’s paternal ancestors. Rick’s grandfather was Stanley Marple Woodruff, son of Carl Thomas Woodruff and Charlotte Elizabeth Posnett.

Stanley Woodruff was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both Stanley and his father Carl worked on the ship yards in and around Philadelphia.

In 1890 Carl Thomas Woodruff owned land in the vicinity of Princeton, New Jersey.

Carl and Charlotte Posnett had six children. One died as an infant of diphtheria, and another died at about age 12. The rest lived to adulthood. The children pictured with their mother, Charlotte, in the following photo are probably Edith, Stanley (or possibly Roy), and Grace.

Below is Edith Woodruff as an adult.

- There is some indication that Thomas L. Woodruff was a descendant of Aaron Dickinson Woodruff, a Recolutionary War veteran. Is this true?
