We started 2019 by moving to an apartment on North 1st Street in San Jose that is right next to the Guadalupe River levee trail, where we love to walk and jog. We just renewed our lease, so we’ll still be at that location at least until the end of 2020.
The main reason for the move was to be closer to Anna’s new job. In December 2018, she started working as a part-time contractor for a startup in Mountain View called Moveworks, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze and process IT help requests for medium and large businesses. In our new location we are also closer to the Computer History Museum, where we still volunteer.
In July we traveled with our daughter Ellen and her family on a one-week cruise on the Rhine river from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland. Ellen was our trip leader, and she did an excellent job. The cruise was on a Viking Cruise Line ship, and they treated us well. We saw windmills in Holland, castles in Germany, and Roman ruins in Basel. A feast for the eyes.
In early August our daughter Gillian organized the second family trip for her family, us, and the Livengoods. This time we spent a week in Grand Teton National Park with a day trip up to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful. This is a very pretty area and we all had fun seeing the sights.
We visited the Blomquists over Thanksgiving, and we expect them to fly to California for the post-Christmas vacation week.
Here are a few more favorite photos from this past year.
