Mike’s paternal grandfather was Henry Edward Blomquist.

Henry’s father, Oscar Blomquist, was born in Sweden.

The Blomquists lived in Southern Sweden, near Malmö. Oscar’s father John Jonsson was a carpenter.

Oscar (born 1879) was the last child in the John Blomquist family to be born in Sweden. The family migrated in 1880, departing from Bremen, Germany, aboard the Salier, and arriving in New York on May 15 of that year.

Henry’s mother, Mary G. Olson, was born in Norway.

Mary migrated later, probably in 1902, when she would have been 20 years old. It isn’t know whether she came with her family or by herself. Mary and Oscar, who worked for a printing company, probably met and married soon after she arrived in Minnesota. Henry was their first child, born in 1904.
