Sugarite Canyon State Park, New Mexico

In early April 2008 we fled the lingering cold weather in Colorado, packed up our RV in the snow (tracking mud all over the clean floor) and headed for New Mexico.

The snow followed us all the way to the southern Colorado border, but by Raton, New Mexico the sun was out and we enjoyed a pleasant, two-hour hike at Sugarite Canyon State Park, a coal mining ghost town with only tailings and stone foundations left.
