There are few things more magical than a boat ride at sunset. The one pictured above took place during our recent visit to the Blomquist compound in Shorewood, Minnesota.
I choose the word “compound” intentionally, because these days, with four (sometimes five) foster children as well as their own two, plus two lively dogs, the Blomquist household has taken on a distinctly “compound-like” character, definitely in the “lively-plus” category. Fun!
For this trip we stayed in a lovely bed and breakfast in Excelsior, which is just a few miles from Shorewood. The Bird House Inn offered us nice accommodations, a friendly, casual atmosphere, and a great breakfast. The inn is next to the Excelsior library and the entrance to a regional walking and biking trail, and across the street from Kowalski’s Market,.
It was great to see the family and guests, and we’re already looking forward to coming back in October, when the leaves and apples are at their best.
