New Year’s week at the beach

On December 26, 2017, the Blomquists arrived for a family visit, and we all spent it at the beach on California’s Central Coast.

We all stayed in Cayucos, a funky and fun little beach town between Cambria and Morro Bay. We all walked the beach and pier; some of us even saw a playful pod of dolphins!

The major highlight was Archer’s 12th birthday, which we spent hiking the bluffs trail and exploring the tide pools at Montaña de Oro State Park, followed by dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Paso Robles.

Another special event was a twilight tour of Hearst Castle, which was decked in Christmas finery.

The weather was lovely for being outdoors (in the 70s), but we Californians are hoping for rain in the coming week, and the Minnesotans are hoping for a respite from their current sub-zero temperatures.

We grandparents were happy to have the whole family together – we are so proud of our bunch!

Happy 2018 to one and all!
