Our Colorado adventure actually began in 1993, after I took a buyout from IBM, was hired back as a supplemental employee, and spent a year commuting from Silicon Valley to Boulder. It was a magical experience, and I fell in love with Boulder and the rest of the state.
In 2007, after having moved to the Sacramento area for a few years and then back to Silicon Valley, we were looking for a non-California adventure and wondered what it would be like to actually live in Colorado. After a couple of scouting trips we bought a townhouse in a co-housing community in Lyons, which is just north of Boulder.
We took full advantage of our good health and relative freedom to come and go as we chose. Living in the community was an adventure in itself, and we traveled all over the state, to other mountain states, back and forth to California and Minnesota, up to Idaho, and across to Canada between Winnipeg and the Canadian Rockies.
The scenery and new experiences were inspiring to us, and we took pictures both in and around Lyons and everywhere else we traveled. Posted here are a few of our favorites.
