Between January 29, 2011 and February 5, 2011 I worked as a volunteer helping to renovate part of the Battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor. The "Mighty Mo" is now a national monument. The Missouri is the place where the Japanese surrendered at the end of World War II in Tokyo Bay.

Every day our little group worked on repairing the teak deck, painting compartments, and cataloging and organizing artifacts. My job was to help clean and paint the Weapons office, Public Affairs Office, and the Legal Office. These three compartments will soon be added to the tour of the ship.

Since we spent so much time on the Mo and also slept there one night, we got to see most of it. It is really a floating city. It has stores, a Post office, dentist, legal office, etc, in addition to all the things needed in battle. I had a lot of fun doing the work and being below decks. The group was wonderful to work with!
